Inside the Arboretum: July 7, 2025

As June turns into July and the summer heat settles in, it’s hard to believe that in just five short months we’ll be decking the halls for Christmas! But believe it or not, here at the Longview Arboretum and Nature Center, we are already hard at work preparing for our most magical holiday season yet.

We are thrilled to announce our first annual “Bright! – A Season of Lights” Holiday Light Spectacularan enchanting, walk-through experience that will transform the Arboretum’s gardens into a dazzling winter wonderland. Guests will stroll along beautifully lit paths and enjoy breathtaking displays; all set within the natural beauty of the Arboretum.

In addition to the lights, Bright! will showcase a lineup of local talent, including children’s choirs, musicians, dance groups, and performers. We will also host a variety of local artisans and vendors. Every weekend will offer something new — making each visit a fresh and festive experience.

To bring this magical event to life, we are currently seeking sponsors and community partners. Your support will help us create an unforgettable holiday tradition for East Texas families and ensure that this inaugural year is a strong foundation for the future.  Sponsorship opportunities range from display to title-level partnerships, and all sponsors will receive prominent recognition throughout the event.   As an added bonus inaugural-year sponsors will receive sponsorship signage for five years, offering long-term visibility and impact.

In addition to sponsorships, we are excited to offer opportunities for businesses and organizations to host private holiday parties and corporate gatherings right here at the Arboretum during the event. Celebrate the season with your team in a truly magical setting!  If you are interested in partnering with us or would like more information about sponsorship or event hosting opportunities, please contact us.

But Christmas lights aren’t all that’s in the works at the Arboretum!

We are excited to introduce our new “Lunch and Learn” series, created in partnership with the Gregg County Master Gardeners. Each month, we will explore a different topic while guests enjoy a casual lunch in the beauty of the Arboretum. These sessions are free to the public, and you can find a full schedule of topics on our website at www.longviewarboretum.org.  Our first session is scheduled for Tuesday, August 22 at noon, and the topic will be Wildflowers. Pack a lunch, bring a friend, and enjoy learning something new in nature!

And finally, get ready for some fun and friendly competition at our very first “Pickle in the Pines” Pickleball Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 & 24 at the Maude Cobb Convention Center! Whether you are a seasoned player or a newcomer to the game, this is a fantastic way to support the Arboretum while enjoying one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.  Registration is open now at www.longviewarboretum.org — but spots are filling up fast, so don’t wait!

Music lovers, we have not forgotten you!  Our Fall Concert Series returns every Thursday evening in October.   As the leaves begin to change, the gardens come alive with the sounds of local and regional musicians performing in our scenic outdoor setting. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab your friends, and enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season and experience the Arboretum in a whole new way.  Keep an eye on our social media for the full band lineup and concert details!

There is something for everyone at the Arboretum this summer and fall, and we hope you’ll be part of it. From learning and laughter to lights and lively competition, we are growing something special here. Come grow with us!
